Officials identified 55-year-old William Gibbard who died after a crash in Altadena (Los Angeles County, CA)

On Thursday, officials identified 55-year-old William Gibbard, as the man who lost his life when the vehicle he was driving crashed off the side of Big Tujunga Canyon Road in the Angeles National Forest, north of Altadena.

As per the initial information, William Gibbard, 55, a resident of Acton, succumbed to his injuries at scene of the crash, which was reported at around 10 p.m. Tuesday west of County Fire Marker 2.92.

The investigation reports showed that the vehicle veered off the roadway for reasons that are yet to be known, went down the mountainside, flipped over for a numerous amount of times, before coming to a stop 185 feet down the mountainside.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
