Officials identified 49-year-old William Pate who died after a motorcycle crash in Stephens County (Stephens County, GA)

Authorities identified 49-year-old William Pate, from South Carolina, as the man who lost his life following a two-vehicle accident Saturday in Stephens County.

The fatal motorcycle crash took place at about 3:41 p.m. on Georgia 17 at Whispering Pines. According to the investigation reports, William Pate, of Seneca, failed to maintain his lane, drifted off the roadway onto the right-hand shoulder and hit a raised curb.

The impact threw Pate from his motorcycle. He suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. No other details are made available.

An investigation into the crash is continuing.
