Officials identified 46-year-old Dan Al Mayes who died after a crash on I-40 (Nashville, TN)

Authorities identified 46-year-old Dan Al Mayes as the man who lost his life following a single-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on I-40 EB.

According to the investigation, the vehicle collided with a metal light pole. At this time, it is unknown why the man drifted off the road and crashed into the pole. Due to the impact, the pole broke down and fell on his Nissan Sentra.

46-year-old Dan Al Mayes of Nashville was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. On arrival, medics rushed him to Nashville General Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities reported that there is no evidence of drugs or alcohol contributing to the collision.

An investigation continues.
