Officials identified 17-year-old Aaron Lane who died after a single-vehicle crash in Menifee (Menifee, CA)

Authorities identified 17-year-old Aaron Lane, from Lake Elsinore, as the teen who died following a traffic accident Sunday morning in Menifee.

The fatal single-vehicle crash was reported a little after 11:30 a.m. in the area of Briggs and Curzulla roads. According to the investigation reports, a vehicle smashed through a fence and the driver suffered critical injuries as a result. Despite the life-saving measures, the teen died of his injuries at the scene. He was declared dead at 11:53 a.m.

Officials shut down Briggs Road, between Scott Road and Golden J Lane as crews worked at the scene. The roadway remained blocked for several hours before responders cleaned the scene and the road was back open. It is unknown if alcohol and drug intoxication contributed to the accident. No other details are available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
