Officials identified 13-year-old Rex Patchett who died after an auto-pedestrian crash in Henderson (Henderson, NV)

Authorities identified 13-year-old Rex Patchett as the teen who lost his life after being struck by a car Monday in Henderson.

The fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place at about 5:18 p.m. in the 100 block of East Paradise Hills Drive near East Horizon Ridge Pkwy. According to the investigation reports, Patchett was walking on a sidewalk when the driver of a car failed to maintain control of their vehicle, went onto the sidewalk and struck the boy.

According to the officials, impairment is not believed to be involved in the accident, but the initial reports revealed that the driver was speeding prior to the collision. No other details are made available.

The crash remains under review.
