Multiple people were injured after a crash Monday morning near the Los Angeles International Airport. Three people received critical injuries while more than 10 others were treated.
As per the initial information, the traffic collision took place near Imperial Highway and Douglas Street. The preliminary reports showed that a semi-truck was parked on the side of the road near Imperial Highway and Douglas Street as the driver was off-loading a scissor lift when it was struck by an LADOT bus.
Due to the impact, the bus rolled on its side in the middle of the street. According to the reports, a total of 19 people were on the bus at the time of the wreck. The bus driver was rushed to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in critical condition. Two passengers also sustained critical injuries and two others had moderate injuries.
The rest incurred minor injuries, most of whom were sent home. All eastbound lanes of Imperial Highway at Douglas Street were closed down while crews worked at the scene. Motorists were urged to avoid the area and find an alternate route. The area was expected to remain blocked for several hours. No other details are available.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
