A three-vehicle accident involving a school bus on Columbia Road at Bartram Trail led to minor injuries.
As per the initial information, the bus was going East on Columbia Road with four people onboard, including the driver, an aid, and two special needs students in wheelchairs. At the same time, a Honda Odyssey minivan with the driver and a juvenile passenger was traveling behind the bus whereas a Nissan Sentra with a juvenile driver was heading in the opposite direction.
The preliminary reports showed that the Nissan crossed the center line and struck the bus’ rear axle for reasons that are yet to be known. The force of the collision caused the bus to flip onto the driver’s side following which the bus went off the road and into a ditch. The Nissan rolled, crashed into the Honda and ran off the road, coming to a stop in the ditch.
All the victims involved in the accident incurred only minor injuries. On arrival, medics transported the driver of the bus and the students to a local hospital for treatment. The other injured victims refused treatment.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
