On Monday morning, a man lost his life after being hit by a vehicle on I-15 northbound, just north of Starr Avenue.
Officers quickly responded to the area of I-15 northbound, just north of Starr Avenue at about 10:34 a.m. after getting reports of a crash. According to the eyewitness, there was a stalled white utility vehicle on the right shoulder with hazard lights on.
The preliminary investigation revealed that an adult male was standing outside the vehicle but it is unknown if he was the driver of that vehicle or a pedestrian. Just then, another utility van in the far right travel lane failed to continue in its lane and hit the man. The man suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the van stayed at the scene and cooperated with the officers. Impairment does not seem to be involved in the collision. Authorities shut down Starr Avenue north on-ramp and only one lane of traffic was allowed to pass through, going north.
The crash remains under review.
