On Sunday night, a man lost his life following a two-vehicle accident near downtown Tacoma.
As per the initial information, the fatal motorcycle crash took place at approximately 7:41 p.m. on Portland Avenue at the intersection of East 29th Street. The early reports showed that the motorcyclist was heading south on Portland Avenue when a northbound vehicle turned left in front of him. Just then, the rider crashed into the passenger side of the vehicle.
There was a 13-year-old girl in the driver’s seat and a 42-year-old woman in the passenger seat. Officers said that the woman was related to the girl. They both did not receive any injuries as a result of the crash. The motorcycle rider died of his injuries after the crash.
The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No arrests have been made at this time. There were no signs that the 13-year-old girl was impaired by drugs or alcohol at the time of the collision. Portland Avenue was closed for several hours as crews worked at the scene. No further details were provided.
An investigation is ongoing.
