On Monday afternoon, Guadalupe Tijerina sustained injuries following a traffic collision in Madera.
As per the initial information, the two-vehicle crash took place at around 5:50 p.m. on State Route 41, north of Road 406. The preliminary investigation indicated that Guadalupe Tijerina was going south at an unknown speed when she went across the double yellow lines into the northbound lane and slammed into an oncoming truck. Tijerina’s car spun out and smashed into a rock embankment east of Highway 41.
Guadalupe Tijerina was pinned in her vehicle and needed extrication. On arrival, emergency responders rescued and airlifted her to a hospital in serious condition. The truck ended up its wheels and its two occupants incurred minimal injuries. Officials believe that drugs or alcohol were not involved in the accident. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
