On late Wednesday, a woman lost her life after getting struck by a vehicle in Long Beach.
As per the initial information, the fatal hit-and-run crash took place at approximately 11:30 p.m. at Pacific Coast Highway and Harbor Avenue. The early reports showed that the woman was walking in an unknown direction in the marked crosswalk at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Harbor Avenue.
Just then, she got hit by a 2002 Toyota Avalon heading westbound on Pacific Coast Highway at an unknown rate of speed. The driver of the Toyota fled the scene northbound on Santa Fe Avenue. That is where investigators found the vacant car with a damaged hood.
Officials are trying to confirm reports that the driver entered a bar. The woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not been revealed, but officers said that the victim is believed to be in her 30s. No further details were provided.
