Authorities identified 32-year-old Gabriel Perez Ortiz who died after a hit-and-run crash (Lawrenceville, GA)

Authorities released the name of 32-year-old Gabriel Perez Ortiz, a resident of Norcross, as the pedestrian who lost his life after a hit-and-run accident in Lawrenceville.

The preliminary investigation showed that on Sunday evening, at about 8:30 p.m., a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle when he was attempting to cross the intersection at Lawrenceville Highway and Fernview Drive. The man, identified as 32-year-old Gabriel Perez Ortiz succumbed to his injuries after the collision.

At this time, officials believe that a white work van is responsible but they are still looking for the driver involved. Authorities do not have any other information of the suspect or the vehicle as of now.

An investigation is ongoing.
