On Wednesday evening, one person died while another suffered injuries following a two-vehicle accident in Nacogdoches.
Officers quickly responded to the area of 1700 block of N.E. Stallings Drive at around 7:30 after getting reports of a traffic collision. Nacogdoches EMS and Nacogdoches Justice of the Peace David Perkins also responded to the scene. On arrival, responding officers found two cars in the roadway that were reportedly been involved in a head-on crash.
One driver was declared dead at the scene and the other driver was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. Both the drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles. Officials shut down Starr Avenue (FM 1878) south to Park Street for several hours as crews worked at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
