A three-vehicle pile-up injured 2 people in Georgetown Township (Georgetown Township, MI)

On Sunday evening, two people were hurt after a three-vehicle pile-up in Georgetown Township.

The wreck took place at about 6:11 p.m. when a 50-year-old woman from Rockford was traveling westbound on Chicago Drive and disregarded a red light at Cottonwood Drive. Her vehicle crashed into two other cars that had a green light, striking a 42-year-old woman from Jenison heading southbound and a 43-year-old man from Coopersville going northbound.

On arrival, emergency responders freed the Rockford woman from her car and took her to Butterworth Hospital by ambulance in serious, but stable condition. The woman from Jenison suffered non-life-critical injuries and required medical care. Officers confirmed a citation to the Rockford woman for the traffic violation. The roadway in the area was shut down for an hour as crews worked at the scene.

An investigation continues.
