A single-vehicle crash killed 1 person in southwest valley (Las Vegas, NV)

On early Monday morning, one person died after a single-vehicle accident in the southwest valley.

The fatal car crash took place at around 3:54 a.m. near Durango and Wigwam. Evidence at the scene and bystanders statements showed that a 1994 Ford Ranger was going on southbound Durango Drive, approaching Camero Avenue. Just then, the vehicle went off the roadway to the right going onto the dirt shoulder on the west side of the roadway.

The Ford reportedly continued traveling southbound through the dirt shoulder hitting a water main. Afterwards, the vehicle reentered the roadway into the northbound travel lanes and into the southbound travel lanes at the intersection with Wigwam Avenue. The vehicle again ran off the roadway to the right onto desert landscaping, crashing into a large tree and a brick wall.

The force of the crash propelled the vehicle in a southwest direction where it came to a stop in the southbound travel lanes on Durango Drive, south of Wigwam Avenue. The 25-year-old driver of the Ford Ranger was declared dead at the scene.

An investigation into the deadly accident is ongoing.
