On Wednesday afternoon, a person was killed following a multi-vehicle pile-up on Ramona Avenue near Shields Avenue.

According to the initial information, the incident took place near Ramona Avenue, just north of the intersection of Clovis and Shields avenues at about 4:40 p.m. The preliminary investigation showed that a southbound Chevy Trailblazer crossed the center median and slammed into three parked vehicles.

On arrival, emergency crews declared the Chevy driver, described as a 53-year-old Clovis man, deceased. Paramedics immediately took a 32-year-old Fresno woman to a local hospital with significant injuries. The authorities confirmed that she was in the parked Toyota Camry when the accident happened.

Officers also confirmed that no one occupied the other two parked vehicles at the time of the crash. It is still unknown if impairment contributed to the crash. The Chevy driver was not wearing a seatbelt when the incident occurred.

An investigation is ongoing at this time.
