A hit-and-run accident seriously injured a pedestrian on 4th Avenue (Yuma, AZ)

On Thursday morning, a 41-year-old Yuma man suffered major injuries after being struck by a vehicle as he crossed 4th Avenue.

As per the initial information, the auto-pedestrian accident took place shortly after 9:30 at S. 4th Avenue and 16th Street. The preliminary investigation showed that the pedestrian was using a crosswalk when he got hit. The vehicle involved fled the scene after the collision. On arrival, emergency crews rushed the victim to Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) with critical injuries.

He was later airlifted to a Phoenix hospital, officials reported. Officers found the suspect vehicle several hours after the accident. No other details have been released about the suspect and the hit-and-run vehicle.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
