A head-on crash killed 58-year-old Clyde J Jeanisse and injured 20-year old Calixto Calo-Taperia (Calcasieu Parish, LA)

On Sunday, 58-year-old Clyde J Jeanisse of Lake Charles lost his life and 20-year old Calixto Calo-Taperia of Lake Charles suffered injuries following a head-on accident in Calcasieu Parish.

The fatal incident took place just before 6:00 p.m. on Louisiana Highway 397 near milepost 15.3, south of US Highway 90. According to initial investigation, Jeanisse was driving a 2013 Ford F-150 south of LA 397 and a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, being driven by 20-year old Calixto Calo-Taperia was heading north.

Calo-Taperia lost control of his pickup for still unknown reasons and crossed the center line. The pickup then hit the F-150 head-on in the southbound lane of travel. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

On arrival, paramedics rushed Jeanisse to a local hospital where he later died. Calo-Taperia received minor injuries and was also taken to a local hospital. Impairment is not suspected and routine toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers.

The incident remains under active review.
