On Tuesday, one person died and another suffered injuries following a head-on crash in Southwest Michigan.
The fatal two-vehicle accident took place at about 5:45 p.m. on M-152 near Philips Road in Cass County’s Silver Creek Township, north of Dowagiac. The preliminary investigation revealed that an eastbound vehicle went over the center line and crashed into a westbound vehicle. The eastbound vehicle flipped over and both vehicles caught fire due to the impact.
One of the drivers was declared dead at the scene by the officials whereas the other was provided medical aid at a hospital and released. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision. State police and Sister Lakes firefighters provided help at the scene. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
