On Monday morning, one person was killed following a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 15.
The fatal car crash took place at about 6:44 a.m. on Interstate 15, south of Oak Hill Road in which a car and a fuel tanker were involved. The preliminary investigation showed that an 18-wheeler was stalled on the right shoulder when a silver four-door Sedan attempted to pass another semi and collided with the fuel truck. The driver was going recklessly prior to the collision.
On arrival, responders found a silver Hyundai Accent fully engulfed in flames which spread into the vegetation. Firefighters extinguished the fire immediately. One person was pronounced dead at the scene by the officials. Authorities closed all lanes on northbound I-15 for approximately an hour. By 9:42 a.m., all lanes were back open. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
