85-year-old Donna Patterson, a Prairieville woman, lost her life while 88-year-old Alfred Patterson and another person were hurt following a two-vehicle collision in Ascension Parish.

The fatal car crash took place at the intersection of LA Hwy 42 and Joe Sevario Road just after 8 p.m. last night. The preliminary investigation showed 88-year-old Alfred Patterson was heading north when he failed to yield at a stop sign. At some point of time, Patterson’s Hyundai Elantra was hit by a Ford pickup truck that was going east on the highway.

Donna Patterson was a passenger in the vehicle that got hit. She died as a result of the accident. She was reportedly wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.  It is unclear why Patterson did not yield. Both drivers incurred only minor injuries and submitted toxicology samples for the investigation.

An investigation is ongoing.
