80-year-old woman dead after being struck by a vehicle in Gagetown (Gagetown, MI)

On Tuesday, an 80-year-old woman lost her life after being hit by a vehicle in the parking lot of a local church in Gagetown.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian accident took place at approximately 9:50 p.m. The preliminary investigation indicated that an 82-year-old man, from Cass City, was leaving a parking space in the parking lot of Our Lady Consolata Parish Church when he hit his 80-year-old wife with his 2021 Ford Explorer.

According to the eyewitnesses, the couple had been volunteering at a food drive at the church before the accident and the woman was carrying a bag of trash to another trash bin located in the parking lot. Officials believe that drugs or alcohol were not involved in the crash. No other details are available.

The incident remains under review.
