On Wednesday, a 70-year-old man lost his life following a two-vehicle collision on the far West Side.
As per the initial information, the fatal motorcycle crash was reported a little before 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 151 and Loop 1604. The early reports showed that a motorcycle was traveling east on Highway 151 while another vehicle was heading westbound on Highway 151 before attempting to turn left onto Loop 1604.
The motorcyclist, a 70-year-old man, had a green light but the other vehicle turned in front of him, resulting in a collision. The other driver, a 24-year-old man, remained at the scene until officers arrived. The motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries after the accident. No criminal charges are pending, as officials have ruled this as an accident.
As of approximately 4:30 p.m., all eastbound lanes of Highway 151 and Loop 1604 were shut down as crews worked at the scene. One westbound lane later reopened, but motorists were advised to use another route. No additional information has been provided.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
