On Thursday night, a 63-year-old man suffered critical injuries after getting struck by a car in San Antonio.
As per the initial information, the auto-pedestrian crash took place at about 7:30 p.m. in the 6500 block of Prue Road, not far from Babcock Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was trying to cross Prue Road at an intersection in a crosswalk when he was hit by a Toyota Corolla.
Reports further added that the car was stopped on Babcock Road at a red light waiting to make a left-hand turn. The driver made the turn after they got a green protected arrow. He failed to see the man and struck him. On arrival, paramedics rushed the victim to University Hospital in critical condition.
The driver was not drunk at the time of the collision. They stopped the vehicle and remained at the scene to help the man. According to the officers, they observed the light signals and with a protected green arrow, a no-crossing signal was displayed on the crosswalk. No criminal charges are pending, authorities mentioned. No other details were provided.
An investigation is continuing.
