63-year-old man died after a bicycle accident in Barrio Logan (San Diego, CA)

A 63-year-old man lost his life after a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Barrio Logan.

As per the initial information, the fatal bicycle accident took place at around 9:30 a.m. on Harbor Drive near Beardsley Street. The preliminary reports showed that the man was traveling west on a battery-assisted bicycle when he veered into the left lane in an attempt to pass a box truck.

During the maneuver, he hit the front right fender of a Dodge Charger that was also going west in that lane. Due to the impact, the cyclist was thrown onto the car’s hood. The bicyclist died before he could be transported to a hospital. Drugs and alcohol were not believed to be involved in the collision. No other information is available.

The incident remains under review.
