62-year-old Lonnie Maddox died after a crash near Camp Pendleton (Oceanside, CA)

Authorities identified 62-year-old Lonnie Maddox, of Carson, as the man who lost his life following a traffic collision last month near Camp Pendleton.

The fatal crash took place at around 4:15 p.m. on Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton. Lonnie Maddox was a passenger in a Jeep that crashed on northbound I-5 just north of Oceanside city limits on April 25. The investigation reports showed that driver lost control while speeding and crashed off the freeway.

Maddox died of his injuries before he could be transported to a hospital. The driver and another passenger were shifted to a hospital in Orange County. The extent of injuries sustained by the injured victims is unknown. No other information is available.

An investigation is ongoing.
