Authorities identified 61-year-old Melvin White, from Gonzales, as the man who lost his life following a traffic collision on Saturday night in Prairieville.
As per the initial information, the fatal bicycle accident took place just before 9 p.m. on Airline Highway. The early reports showed that Melvin White was exiting the driveway of a home along Airline Highway when a 2006 Toyota Camry that was going north on Airline Highway struck him.
White succumbed to his injuries at the scene. According to the officers, a third vehicle, a 2020 Hyundai Kona, might have also been involved in the accident. Neither of the drivers suffered injuries as a result of the crash. No further details were provided.
The incident remains under investigation.
