58-year-old Douglas Whitson dead, 68-year-old Danny Macon injured after a single-vehicle crash (Harrison County, TX)

On Sunday, a single-vehicle accident claimed the life of 58-year-old Douglas Whitson and injured 68-year-old Danny Macon, both from Shreveport, in Harrison County.

Officers quickly responded to the crash scene at about 8:40 p.m., westbound on IH-20 near mile marker 603 in Harrison County. According to the initial information, the driver of a 2004 Ford Focus was heading westbound on IH-20 when the vehicle went off the roadway to the left, into the center median and hit numerous trees.

The driver, Douglas Whitson, died of his injuries at the scene. On arrival, medical crews rushed a passenger in the vehicle, Danny Macon, to Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview for treatment of unidentified injuries.

The cause of the fatal crash is under investigation.
