The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle crash in Boyle Heights on Sunday. The collision happened near Whittier Boulevard and the Golden State Freeway southbound at around 1:15 a.m.
According to the CHP, the car may have come off an overcrossing onto the motorway. The car plunged from a bridge in Boyle Heights and came to rest on its roof on the golden state (5) freeway.
Steven De Vone, 56 was identified as the driver of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. There were no other occupants present in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
The fatal crash is still being investigated by the officials. Four lanes of the southbound motorway were blocked up as a result of the collision until 4:24 a.m. Additional information regarding the deadly crash is not available currently.
