Louisiana State Police responded to a deadly single-vehicle crash on U. S 61 near Evangeline Road in St.Charles Parish.
The Victim was identified as 52-year-old James Kennedy of Sorrento.
He was driving a 2019 Hyundai Elantra north on U. S 61. Kennedy drove off the center highway lane and crossed the southbound lanes of U.S. 61.
According to the investigators, the vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a utility pole.
Kennedy sustained fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the LSP, Kennedy was suspected to be impaired during the crash.
Although details are unclear, a toxicology sample was collected for further investigations.
