52-year-old George Lammon dead after being hit by a vehicle in Palm Springs (Palm Springs, CA)

Authorities identified 52-year-old George Lammon as the man who died after getting struck by a vehicle on Sunday in Palm Springs.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian collision took place at approximately 4:12 a.m. in the 800 block of North Sunrise Way. The early reports showed that a vehicle was heading southbound when the driver saw Lammon, but he failed to avoid hitting him.

Lammon suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the officials. The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene. Officers believe that alcohol and drugs were not involved in the accident. No further details were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
