Authorities identified 51-year-old Willie Davis, from Atlanta, Georgia, as the man who lost his life following a single-vehicle accident Monday morning in Bowie County.
As per the initial information, the fatal semi-truck crash took place on I-30, approximately a mile east of Hooks a little before 8 a.m. The preliminary investigation showed that Willie Davis was heading westbound when, for unknown reasons, his Freightliner truck drifted off the road and hit a metal pole.
Davis suffered major injuries and was declared deceased at the scene by the officials. Officers reported that the road was wet due to rain in the area. No additional information has been provided by the authorities.
The wreck remains under review.
