According to the Louisiana State Troopers, a fatal crash was reported on Thursday in Houma.
Officials confirmed that a 48-year-old man died due to the accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred east on Thompson Road Extension near Highway 56.
A 2015 Chevrolet Corvette was traveling eastward at a very high speed.
The car went off the road, landed in a ditch and spiraled multiple times before stopping.
The driver of the car was identified as 48-year-old Cody Schexnayder.
Schexnayder suffered from fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
A passenger in the car suffered moderate injuries and was admitted to a nearby hospital.
The crash remains under investigation by the LSP.
