45-Year-Old Sgt. Matt Lewis Killed In A Motorcycle Crash In Nuevo (Nuevo, CA)

In Nuevo, an off-duty Riverside police sergeant was killed in a motorcycle accident. The collision happened near Pico Avenue and Santa Rosa road at about 7:15 p.m.

Officer Keith Ballantyne, a CHP spokesperson, reported that Sgt. Matt Lewis, 45, was driving on N Pico Avenue when a GMC truck towing a flatbed trailer failed to yield and turned left from southbound Pico to eastbound Santa Rosa.

Lewis rear-ended the side of the truck, resulting in fatal injuries. Other officers on motorcycles transported him to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.

An investigation into the crash is under review.
