Authorities identified 44-year-old Christopher James Mendoza as the man who lost his life following a crash east of Idalou.
The fatal motorcycle collision took place at 6:10 p.m. on US 62 near CR 3600, approximately three miles east of Idalou. The investigation reports showed that a 2010 Harley-Davidson motorcycle ridden by Christopher James Mendoza was going east on US 62 in the right lane when he passed a truck tractor semi-trailer that was in the left lane.
After passing the truck, the motorcycle could not stay in a single lane and swerved left, where it entered the center median and hit the cable barrier. The rider and the motorcycle kept on going east along the cable barrier before coming to a stop in the median. Mendoza was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time of the wreck. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
