On Wednesday, a 42-year-old man, from Caledonia, lost his life while a 29-year-old man, from Alto, suffered critical injuries following a head-on collision near Cutlerville.
As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place at about 8:40 p.m. on Kalamazoo Avenue at Crystal Springs Boulevard in Gaines Township. The preliminary investigation indicated that a southbound SUV went over the center turn lane and crashed head-on into a northbound SUV.
The driver of the southbound vehicle, a 42-year-old man, suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The other driver, a 29-year-old man, had to be freed from his car. On arrival, emergency responders rescued and rushed the man to a local hospital with critical injuries.
The identities of the victims have not been revealed at this time. Kalamazoo Avenue was shut down Wednesday evening from 68th Street to 76th Street as crews worked at the scene. No other details are immediately available.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
