On Tuesday morning, a 42-year-old man lost his life while another person was hospitalized following a multi-vehicle wreck in Dixon.
As per the initial information, the three-vehicle accident took place at around 6:50 a.m. on Interstate 80 near Pedrick Road. The early reports showed that a Ford F-650 truck was traveling west on Interstate 80 when it rear-ended a Ford F-450 pickup truck. Due to the impact, the F-650 went west and sideswiped a tractor-trailer.
On the other hand, the F-450 struck the metal guardrail on the center median. The driver of the F-650 driver, a 42-year-old Sacramento man, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. A 28-year-old Sacramento man in the F-650 was rushed to a hospital with major injuries. Four people in the F-450 pickup received minimal injuries but did not need to be taken to the hospital.
The driver of the tractor-trailer remained unharmed in the accident. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No other details have been provided by the authorities.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
