42-year-old man dead after a single-vehicle accident in Ionia County (Ionia County, MI)

On early Tuesday morning, a 42-year-old man lost his life after smashing their vehicle into a tree in Orleans Township.

As per the initial information, the fatal single-vehicle crash took place at about 3 a.m. on Canfield Road north of Wheeler Road. The early reports showed that a 42-year-old man was traveling northbound on Canfield Road at a high rate of speed when his vehicle drifted off the roadway, hit a tree and separated in half. The impact ejected the man from his vehicle.

On arrival, medic rushed the victim to an area hospital where he later died of his injuries. The man was the sole occupant in the car. He was not buckled up at the time of the collision. Speed and alcohol are believed to have contributed to the accident. No other details are immediately available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
