41-year-old Fabian Alonzo died, Winter Ashley Chambers Horton injured after a crash near Lubbock (Lubbock, TX)

Authorities identified 41-year-old Fabian Alonzo as the motorcyclist who died after a rear-end crash Saturday morning just outside of Lubbock.

As per the initial information, the fatal motorcycle accident took place at 7:25 a.m. on County Road 2500 and County Road 7200. The investigation reports showed that Fabian Alonzo, of Lubbock, was riding a motorcycle north on County Road 2500 (Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard). At that point of time, 28-year-old Winter Ashley Chambers Horton, of Lubbock, was driving a 2017 Jaguar passenger vehicle east on County Road 7200 (98th Street).

The reports further revealed that the bike struck the back rear of the car. Alonzo was thrown from his bike due to the impact. Alonzo was rushed to University Medical Center where he later died of their injuries. The driver of the Jaguar was transported to Covenant Medical Center in unknown condition.

The east/west traffic has a stop sign, officials mentioned. However, it is unknown if either driver committed a traffic violation. Conditions were dry and clear. Alonzo was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
