According to the officials, a motor vehicle crash was reported on Monday in Central Phoenix.
The officials revealed that the crash happened in the area of 9th Avenue and Buckeye Road at around 4:45 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers found 41-year-old Candice Russell at the side of the road.
Candice had waved down a car and asked them to call 911. Both Candice and the vehicle stopped at the side of the road when another vehicle was coming from behind. The vehicle swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting them. The second car followed and hit Russel.
Officials reported that Russel was rushed to the hospital where authorities declared her dead.
No additional information regarding the fatal crash was provided.
The crash was being investigated by Sgt. Phil Krynsky.
