According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a multi-vehicle accident was reported on Sunday.
The officials reported that at around 2:15 p.m. a fiery crash involving a passenger car and a tractor-trailer occurred.
At the Sedona exit, a big rig loaded with glass lost control of its vehicle after the brakes failed and he could not stop.
The semi-truck ran the stop sign and collided with a car sending both vehicles down an embankment, reported the officials.
Following the initial collision, the tractor-trailer landed on the car and erupted in flames.
Four people occupied in the car were trapped while the truck driver escaped unharmed.
Officials reported that due to the fire intensity, the victims have not been identified yet.
No additional information regarding the fatal crash was provided by the DPS.
