The New Orleans Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash that claimed a life. The crash happened at the 9300 block of the I-10 Service Road in West Lake Forest around 5:52 p.m.
According to the police, a 43-year-old man had been pushing a 39-year-old woman in a wheelchair on the westbound side. They were hit by a black sedan from behind. The driver did not stop after the collision and fled the scene.
The 39-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene by the paramedics. The 43-year-old sustained minor injuries and refused any medical aid.
The hit-and-run crash is being investigated.
