On Saturday night, a multi-vehicle accident was reported in Tacoma.
As per the initial information, the three-vehicle accident took place at approximately 11:30 p.m. on I-5 near the Delin Street overpass that also included a Washington State Patrol trooper. The early reports showed that a 43-year-old Federal Way man was traveling north when his vehicle slammed into a second northbound vehicle, which then struck the trooper’s vehicle.
The trooper’s vehicle was parked on the left shoulder of the freeway, emergency lights flashing. The officer, a 39-year-old Tacoma man, was not hurt, but was transported to Allenmore Hospital in Tacoma to be evaluated. After the crash, the second vehicle occupied by five people, traveled to a nearby gas station. All five Puyallup residents, ranging in age from 20 to 58, remained unharmed in the accident.
The Federal Way man also did not receive injuries as a result of the collision. Northbound I-5 was partially blocked for more than three hours as crews worked at the scene. According to the officials, the 43-year-old man, suspected of driving under the influence, caused the accident. No other details are available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
