39-year-old man dead after a vehicle slammed into a tree on South Side (San Antonio, TX)

A 39-year-old man lost his life after a vehicle slammed into a tree Wednesday on South Side.

As per the initial information, the fatal single-vehicle crash took place just before 6:40 a.m. on South Zarzamora Street near Hunters Pond, which is south of Loop 410. The early reports showed that a man who had just left work died after he ran his car on a South Side street.

The reports also revealed that a vehicle driven by a 39-year-old man veered off the road and collided with a tree. A co-worker driving by noticed the crash and called the police for help. The driver was removed from the vehicle by San Antonio firefighters and declared dead at the scene.

He might have fallen asleep at the wheel, officers mentioned. A spokesperson from Toyota sated the deceased driver worked for a supply company to the Toyota plant, but was not a Toyota employee. No other information is available.

An investigation is ongoing.
