Officials identified 39-year-old Elvin Torres, of Kenner, 67-year-old Willie Harris, of Gretna, and 45-year-old Tavalyn Session, of St. Charles Parish, as the victims who lost their lives following a wrong-way crash in Kenner.
The fatal two-vehicle collision took place on Airline Highway at Jackson Street. According to the investigation reports, a vehicle was going the wrong way on Airline when it crashed into another vehicle crossing the intersection.
The impact pushed both vehicles into a pole, leaving thousands without power for several hours. Three people died of their injuries after the collision. Another person was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. No other details are made available.
An investigation is continuing.
