Louisiana State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash in Orleans Parish that claimed a life.
Charles Garrett, 38, was killed after hitting a concrete traffic barrier.
According to the police, a 2019 Cadillac CTS driven by Garrett failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the roadway on US 90B east.
The Cadillac was engulfed in flames after resting near the middle of the roadway. Garrett was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. However, routine toxicology samples were obtained for analysis. The results are pending.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
