37-year-old Tyler C Ford dead after an auto-pedestrian crash in Whatcom County (Bellingham, WA)

Authorities identified 37-year-old Tyler C Ford, of Bellingham, as the man who lost his life after being hit by a vehicle on Tuesday night in Whatcom County.

The fatal auto-pedestrian collision took place at about 11:18 p.m. on East Axton Road between Guide Meridian and Hannegan Road. According to the investigation reports, a silver 2018 Subaru Legacy driven by 24-year-old Kaycee Elaine Antila, from Bellingham, was going eastbound on Axton.

At the same time, Ford was also walking in the eastbound lanes of Axton and got hit by the Subaru. Antila was believed to have been impaired by drugs or alcohol at the time of the collision. Ford was also believed to have had drugs or alcohol in his system.

Antila was booked on suspicion of vehicular homicide at 2:44 a.m. Wednesday, May 4. No other details are immediately available.

The incident remains under review.
