On Tuesday, 35-year-old Christopher Molina, of Westwego, lost his life following a two-vehicle crash in Jefferson Parish.
At about 4:45 am Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop B actively responded to the area of US 90, near West Tish Drive in Avondale. The incident claimed the life of 35-year-old Christopher Molina.
The preliminary reports indicated that Molina was driving a 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle west on US 90. At that point of time, a 2006 Mack tractor trailer left a private parking lot and crossed the westbound lanes of US 90 before starting to turn left onto US 90 east.
At that time, the Harley-Davidson rear-ended the trailer and Molina was thrown from the motorcycle due to the impact. As per the initial information, Molina was traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash. Despite wearing a DOT approved helmet, Molina sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries.
The driver of the tractor trailer remained unharmed in the accident. Toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers and will be sent for analysis. Troopers are still processing evidence relating to the crash and any criminal and traffic charges will be submitted to the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office at the completion of the investigation.
An investigation is continuing.
