On Monday morning, a two-vehicle accident claimed the lives of 33-year-old Seth Farmer, 32-year-old Joe Efeya and 56-year-old Charles Riggins in Lee County.
Officers quickly responded to the scene after receiving reports of a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck at around 8:30 a.m., near Highway 91 and Highway 32. The preliminary investigation showed that a four-door pickup truck collided with the semi. There were three people in the pickup at the time of the accident and all of them died as a result of the wreck.
Authorities identified the victims on early Monday afternoon as Seth Farmer and Joe Efeya, both of whom died on the scene. The third victim, identified as Charles Riggins, was rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The officials mentioned that the other victim involved in the crash escaped serious injuries. Officers rerouted traffic down Highway 300 and asked the motorists going towards Worth County to travel back through Albany instead of taking Highway 300.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
