On Sunday night, 32-year-old Jose Hurst and 29-year-old Overland Tart lost their lives following a two-vehicle collision on the Leo Kenner/Lafitte Parkway near Cascade Drive in Marrero.
As per the early information, Jose Hurst from Gretna was driving his 2006 GMC Envoy the wrong way on the road also known as State Highway 3134. Just then, Hurst drove his northbound vehicle into the southbound left lane. Overland Tart from Harvey was driving a 2014 Dodge Charger in the southbound left lane when his vehicle was hit head-on by Hurst’s SUV.
Both the drivers were declared deceased at the scene by the officials. Impairment is suspected to be involved on the part of both drivers. Routine toxicology testing will be conducted. Both the victims were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
An investigation continues.
